Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine tips

When using your machine for die cut and embossing you should be rotating and flipping your plates to stop the bowing that happens from constant use. You make still get some bowing of the plates.

See how dirty my plates are? I decided that I needed to clean them. To clean them all you need is some dish soap and a old toothbrush. Run your plate under hot water add a squirt of dish soap, and scrub with toothbrush to you get it clean. My were so bad that this took me a bit, now they look like new except for all the scratches.

When I was done cleaning them, I saw that they were still had a little bowing. I ran my hot water, mine gets pretty hot. Then ran my plate under it a bit once i figured it was warm enough, I used the middle bar between my sinks and slowly bend them the other way. This helped straighten them out some more. If your plates are as old as mine you don’t want to apply a lot of pressure quickly, it’s better to go slowly

nice and clean now
still slightly bowed but better then in first picture

This plate is about 18 years old, when I started with the big shot I didn’t about cleaning the plates, once I learned how I started cleaning it. you can still see the difference in the dirty and clean
